There was quiet wedding at the residence of Mr. C. S. H. Brownlow’s last Sunday morning, the contracting parties being Mr. E. M. Dyar and Miss J. B. Brownlow. We wish them much pleasure and happiness as they glide down the stream of time.

Note: The C. S. H. Brownlow must be a typo. Jennie D., not B., Brownlow married Elisha M. Dyar on 26 June 1892. Her father was James A. H. Brownlow, however, and as far as I know there is no C. S. H. Brownlow.

Kingston.
Mrs. M. T. Gillam entertained Wednesday afternoon in honor of the widows of Kingston. Our town certainly has its share of these, for sixteen ladies were in attendance and seven unable to accept the hostess’ kind invitation. The affair was unique, too, in other ways, quaint games were played at small tables and delightful refreshments served. Mrs. Gillam was assisted by her daughter, Mrs. J. L. Davidson, of Quitman, and Mrs. W. H. Griffin and Miss Ina Van Metre. The guests were Mrs. Henderson, Mrs. Darden, Mrs. Havneir, Mrs. Coleman, Mrs. Trout, Mrs. Butts, Mrs. McGuire, Mrs. Franks, Mrs. Brownlow, Mrs. Bayless, Mrs. Cloud, Mrs. Headden, Mrs. Hargis, Mrs. Lowry, Mrs. Rogers. It is hope that someone else will follow suite and these ladies may have a series of entertainments that will prove a source of pleasure during the year.

Note: The widow Mrs. Brownlow is not Jane Ann Austin Brownlow. She died 21 June 1909, two months before this event. I could find no other widow Brownlows in Kingston in 1900. She may be Jane's daughter Susan Brownlow Witt. Susan married John D. Witt in 1872, but in the 1880 census both she and her son John are living with James A. H. and Susan, and listed as Brownlows. However, in Susan's obituary information, she is listed as a Witt, and she is listed as Susan Witt in the 1900 Bartow County census.

Our community was saddened by the death of Mr. James Brownlow, which sad event occurred last Friday morning the eighth day of the present month.
He was 76 years old, and was a consistent Christian being a member of the Baptist Church for a number of years. He was ready when the summons came, and is now in that blissful abode where no sickness nor sorrow ever comes.
